Diamond friction shims

Overview

Increasing the friction coefficient in mechanical assemblies where two components joined together need to transmit forces and torque enables a simplification of the join design and a significant weight loss.

With our friction shims, a torque up to 4x higher can be transmitted without changing the design of the joint.

Standard shims are made out of Spring steel, but if needed we can also provide them in stainless steel.

Areas of application

The shims are coated with friction-increasing layers based on chemical nickel with embedded diamond particles (DIANIP) with a grain size of 3 µm to 50 µm.

These are used in a wide variety of industries such as mechanical, offshore or marine engineering, water energy generators, wind turbines, automotive engineering, high performance motor sports and machine tools.

The friction shims offers a simple and cost effective solution to transmit forced, but if needed, the components itself can also be coated directly with the DIANIP chemical nickel diamond dispersion layer.

Our DIANIP Friction Shims have proven themselves particularly in areas of application such as wind turbines, satellites, motors, compressors or pumps.
